Step 1: Find your vision

So for many of you, you want to make changes in your law firm, you know something needs to change! But what, how and in what order … well, that’s the challenge.

Over the next 6 weeks, I’ll be sharing an insight into my Productise and Profit blueprint – a six stage framework that will take you from traditional law to a thriving product ecosystem, and might also give you that lifestyle you’ve been craving!

Let’s jump straight in with step #1: VISION.

The concept of vision is sometimes dismissed as being utopian, but as I always say, if you’re going to redesign your business, you might as well make it one you love.

Not only that, the path to building a business you can sell will look quite different to that where you build a business to fit around your family obligations.

So, what are you trying to achieve? What is your big WHY?  What is your vision for your life, not just for your work?

Find the answers to those questions first. You can then set about building the business you want and need for your life, not the one you think others expect of you, that you’ve inherited or has been forced on you by circumstances.

At Birman & Ride, we choose to do work we love and can do really well, and to do it alongside people we like. We don’t pretend that work is the be all and end all. Many of us have families and all of us have hobbies and interests outside of work and we encourage each other to foster those as much as possible.

What about you? What is your vision?
